The Organization I Chose to Explore:

Zero To Three: National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families
http://www.zerotothree.org/

The focus of this organization is to provide information to make sure babies and toddlers have a strong foundation and a good start in life (Zero to Three, 2013).
One current issue/trend:
Zero to Three commended the President for making babies and toddlers a priority in his 2014 budget proposal, with a considerable investment in early learning. Here is the budget for early learning:
“The budget includes $1.4 billion to expand the comprehensive supports offered to the most vulnerable families through Early Head Start – which for almost 20 years has proven it improves both child and parental outcomes. The plan would provide $200 million in 2014 specifically to create more high-quality child care options for babies and toddlers with working parents, using Early Head Start’s quality benchmarks, expertise, and resources. Looking ahead, the budget proposal provides for $7 billion over 10 years to ensure young children and families have access to high-quality child care” (Zero to Three, 2013.

I am very pleased and ecstatic to learn about this because children are the future and they need all the support they can get. I am interested in learning more from this organization.

  1. Hi Ashley, I chose Zero to Three as well. It is so important that the government has high regard for the EC sector and has allocated a significant sum to show this. We are really priviledged to mold young minds.

  2. I applaud President Obama for recognizing that children need to have a head start. What he is doing is making an investment for the future of us all.

  3. Hi Ashley,
I agree with you that children need the best beginning we can give them. I am especially grateful for our governments continued support in early childhood educational services. Without the government funding to keep all of the programs active which are beneficial to the children as well as their parents, there would not be as many services offered. In my opinion our government is making a good investment in the future of the U.S. through their continued financial support of early childhood educational programs; because the children of today will be our future.

  4. Hi Ashley,
We have selected the same organization Zero to Three. I chose this organization because of the work that it does for children and their families. It is certainly wonderful that President Obama has done so much for Early Childhood. I pray for the day when we can get our government here in Guyana to place such priority on early childhood development for children do need the best start. Have you viewed the Rally 4 Babies video. I hope you plan to advocate in your state for some of that money in the budget to go towards the development of babies and their families. They need it. Great post Ashley.

  5. Ashley,
That is a wonderful opportunity for families in need. We definitely need better options for child care. Families should not have to choose between price and quality.
